A SHIFT IN FOCUS: FROM TECHNOLOGY TO TECHNOLOGY-ENABLED BUSINESS MODELS

From The Experience Economy, to crowdsourcing, to long-tail economics, to clouds, to the empire of one, it is clearly evident that information technology can yield a significant competitive advantage. But it isn’t about the technology itself; rather, it’s about the strategic and innovative uses of technology that enable and sustain competitive advantages. Moreover, the ability to combine emerging IT-enabled business models can create even greater competitive advantage and differentiation in the marketplace. Where these new business models intersect generates the greatest opportunities for success.
