The Master of Finance (MoF) program at Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management (Tsinghua SEM) has retained third place globally for the second consecutive year in the Financial Times' 2026 ranking of Masters in Finance Pre-Experience programs, which was published on June 15, 2026. It is Asia's No. 1 for the sixth straight year, reinforcing its position as the region's leading finance program.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the MoF program, which was established in 2011. Since its founding, the program's mission has been consistent: to train top-notch financial professionals and cultivate future financial leaders with advanced knowledge in economics and finance. The curriculum has been continuously refined, global engagement has been strengthened and a powerful global alumni ecosystem has been built.
Drawing on its exceptional performance in the Financial Times 2026 ranking of Masters in Finance Pre-Experience programs, the program demonstrated outstanding performance in key indicators:
- Ranking first globally in "Value for money" for the second consecutive year, demonstrating the program's remarkable cost-effectiveness;
- Ranking second globally and second in Asia in "Salary today" (alumni salary three years after graduation), highlighting its exceptional earning power;
- Ranking second globally and first in Asia in "Alumni network,” reflecting the program's far-reaching influence;
- Ranking third globally and first in Asia in "Aims achieved" (93%), demonstrating high goal attainment;
- Standing fourth globally in "Salary percentage increase" (first in Asia) and "Careers service" (second in Asia), showcasing graduates' strong earnings growth potential and the effectiveness of the program's career support.
These rankings underscore the program's world-class educational quality and the remarkable career achievements of its graduates in global finance.
In the past five years, the MoF program has attracted applicants from nearly 70 countries and over 200 universities, with more than 50% coming from QS Top 50 institutions such as Cornell, Imperial College and Columbia. Graduates have achieved 100% employment for consecutive years, joining top investment banks, government agencies and leading Chinese financial institutions.
Since its launch, the program's internationalization has accelerated. Leveraging Tsinghua SEM's global resources, it has built a multi-tiered system of dual-degree and exchange opportunities. Dual-degree partnerships include HEC Paris, UC Berkeley Haas and Columbia Engineering, enabling students to earn dual degrees and gain cross-cultural perspectives. Students also have access to the school’s exchange network of over 30 overseas institutions. To date, about 131 students have participated in dual-degree programs, and 223 in semester-long exchanges.
Building on its forward-looking strategy at the intersection of AI and finance, the program offers an "AI and Finance" concentration alongside its three existing tracks – Global Finance, Finance and Governance, and Investment and Insurance. Together, they form a diversified curriculum that integrates cutting-edge technology courses, applying AI to quantitative investment, intelligent risk control and digital finance. This interdisciplinary approach empowers industry transformation and contributes to China's goal of building a modern financial powerhouse.
Adopting a "Dual Mentor System," each student is paired with a Tsinghua professor and a senior financial industry expert, enabling a deep integration of theoretical teaching and professional practice and fostering two-way empowerment between academia and industry. The "China Finance Practices" series invites senior regulators and executives to help students understand China's financial landscape, while the program also offers company visits, industry salons, and fieldwork at banks, securities firms and tech innovators – bridging classroom learning with real-world practice.
Over its 15-year history, nearly 2,000 alumni have pursued careers across the financial industry. Many have returned as industry mentors to support the next generation. In 2025, Alex Witt (Graduate of Class 2013) established a scholarship for incoming U.S. students, fostering China-U.S. educational exchange. Such alumni engagement reflects a virtuous cycle of "education, growth and giving back," fueling the program's long-term development.
