As examples, Dean QIAN cited new courses and new instructional means. SEM has just introduced a brand new course to its EMBA curriculum named Exploring Frontiers at Tsinghua. The course consists of one humanity and history unit and three units to explore science labs at Tsinghua. The purpose is to open up a window for EMBA students to learn about the history of Tsinghua University and other schools and disciplines. While experiencing the unique charm of the University, they will identify new business opportunities, acquire new entrepreneurial and managerial inspirations. As for new instructional means, SEM has carefully prepared for each new student an iPad named iEMBA, tailor-made from cover to contents. “With the help of iEMBA, an instructional device based on mobile internet, students can explore real-time updated course materials at anytime, take notes with original handwritings, get information about forums, class activities and keep track of every details of their campus life. It is also an on-line community of interactions.” Dean QIAN said, “A small step in information technology’s application in instruction is a giant step forward in the history of Tsinghua EMBA because from the day on Tsinghua EMBA has officially entered into the iEMBA era.” As a practitioner of the new device, Dean QIAN was the only speaker at the ceremony using iPad for manuscripts. At the end, Dean QIAN encouraged the new EMBA students to immerse into the Tsinghua community and the iEMBA era, witnessing the beginning of the new decade of Tsinghua EMBA.
