In a relaxed atmosphere, the dean and students dived into heated discussion on undergraduate teaching reform at Tsinghua SEM, especially the recruiting process. Dean QIAN Yingyi asked about the interview questions for enrollment and department transfer. “What kind of interview questions would allow a candidate to demonstrate his/her character multi dimensionally? So the school could select holistic talents as well as unique person like GAO Xiaosong?”  After hearing a few amusing examples, Dean QIAN felt the interview questions should focus on personal feelings, such as “What books have you read last year? Which is the most interesting one? What did you learn from the book?”
