Professor XU Xin, Associate Dean of the School, gave the new students a welcoming speech entitled “Broad Knowledge Base: Foundation of Undergraduate Education”. The speech started with the School’s mission (To advance knowledge and cultivate leaders for China and the world), aspiration (To be a world-class school of economics and management) and values (integrity, dedication and respect), and introduced how Tsinghua SEM reformed its undergraduate program education to effectively support the mission. A focus of the reformation is exactly upon a broad knowledge base for undergraduate students. He shared views and experiences from faculty and students to elaborate the importance of the reformation.
