◢ Introduction
Established in 2017, the Chinese University of Hong Kong-Tsinghua University Joint Research Center for Chinese Economy aims to promote academic research and policy studies on China's economy. Leveraging a connection between Hong Kong and Beijing, with a solid and experienced research team and abundant resources, the center is committed to building an international platform to promote China's economic research while facilitating exchanges and collaborations between academia and the Chinese government agencies.
The center is a university-level scientific research center, supported by two leading research institutions on the Chinese economy: The Department of Economics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University. Both institutions feature internationally recognized faculty members who have been engaged in cutting-edge research on China's economy and gained academic influence.
The center has three main tasks: 1) to regularly organize a series of academic and policy research activities; 2) to collaborate with the Chinese government agencies in order to develop institutional knowledge and data resources for academic research; and 3) to publish academic papers and policy research reports promoting research achievements in domestic and foreign media while providing suggestions to the Chinese government in formulating economic policies.
