Professor of Economics of the School of Economics and Management, Professor Wu received a bachelor's degree from Northwest University in Mathematics in 1982, an M.A. from Northwest University in Mathematics in 1985, and a doctorate in mathematical economics from Chinese Academy of Science in 1989. After graduation, he worked is post doctoral program in Nankai University from 1989 to 1991. Then, he was appointed as a professor in November 1997, and then the Dean of Institute of Quantitative Economics, North China University of Technology. He has been appointed as a professor of the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University since December 1998. He teaches "Advanced Microeconomics", "Advanced Macroeconomics", "Money and Banking" and "The Basics of Economics".
Professor Wu has published more than seventy academic papers in top journals such as Economic Research Journal, Statistical Research, Journal of Quantitative & Technical Economics, China Management Science, China Soft Science, Journal of Industrial Economic Research, System Engineering—Theory & Practice, Acta Mathematica, Journal of Systems Sciences and Mathematics, and Sciences in China. He has received many honors such as Prize for Young Academic Leader of Higher Education (Beijing), Cross Century Academic Leader of China National Nonferrous Metals Industry Corporation, Outstanding Ph.D. Instructor (Tshinghua University) and Outstanding Ph.D. Instructor (Beijing), etc.
Professor Wu is Advanced Member of Research Center of China Economy of Tsinghua University, Full-time Researcher of Research Center for Technological Innovation of Tsinghua University, Executive Board Member of China Society of Productivity, Executive Board Member of China Society of Internationally Economical Relationships, Board Member of China Society of Foreign Economics, and Academic Technological Adviser of Taiyuan Government, etc.
