First launched in 2015, Elsevier's "Highly Cited Chinese Researchers" list has been released annually for 11 years as of 2025. The ranking is based on a statistical analysis of Scopus, a leading global database of citations and indices, and evaluates the research performance of Chinese scholars. The list has garnered significant attention from both domestic and international media and academics. This year's edition covers 84 first-level disciplines across the 10 categories defined by the Ministry of Education.
