Professor FENG Runhuan of the Department of Finance at Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management (Tsinghua SEM) was invited to serve as the Co-Editor of the North American Actuarial Journal, becoming the first scholar from the Chinese mainland to take this position in the journal's history.

Actuarial science is a discipline that uses econometric methods based on economic principles to analyze, predict, and manage the financial implications of risks in societal development, industrial production and services, as well as people's everyday lives. It is used in life insurance, property & casualty insurance, health insurance, investment management, social security, financial risk management, enterprise risk management, strategic planning, and financial management. North American Actuarial Journal was founded in 1949 and is the flagship academic journal of the Society of Actuaries. It is one of the top four academic journals in the international community of actuarial science, along with Insurance: Mathematics and Economics, Scandinavian Actuarial Journal, and ASTIN Bulletin.
Professor FENG is a Chair Professor at Tsinghua SEM. Prior to his current role, he was the State Farm Companies Foundation Endowed Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the US. FENG was also the faculty lead for the Finance and Insurance Sector at the University of Illinois System's Discovery Partnership Institute, as well as a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst. His research interests include Actuarial Science, Insurance, Retirement Finance, Business Model Innovation and Optimization, Global Risks, and Governance.
FENG's appointment as a Co-Editor of the North American Actuarial Journal signifies the high recognition of his research and academic achievements by international peers, which will raise the international influence of Tsinghua SEM in the areas of Actuarial Science and Risk Management to represent the voices of Chinese universities and scholars in international academia.
