Mr. Tsun-yan Hsieh,Global Leader of Organization Practice, McKinsey & Company, visited Tsinghua SEM on November 3 and delivered a speech titled “Managing Change in Business and Life”. This was the third one of the McKinsey Quarterly Speech Series organized by Tsinghua SEM Second Classroom Committee this year. Zhu Hengyuan, Assistant Dean, was present.

In his speech, Mr. Hsieh shared his idea with students of “major change”. To illustrate clearly, he drew a coordinate with change readiness (equals will multiplies skill) at the horizontal position and change requirement (equals gap multiples pace) at the vertical position. In addition, he brought forward four principles when dealing with changes. First, distinguish the positive and the negative, and stick the former constantly. Secondly, give strong sense of purposes. Thirdly, pick up the most proper person and volunteers should be given priority. Fourthly, be responsible. Mr. Hsieh also suggested students to be aggressive in hunting a job and being brave to meet challenge.

Mr. Hsieh reacted with student present and answered questions on McKinsey and consulting industry.
