Professor Qian Yingyi, Dean of Tsinghua SEM has met with three members of Tsinghua SEM Advisory Board during his visit toHong Kongin late June. The members are Marjorie Yang, Chairman and CEO of Esquel Group, Victor K. Fung, Chairman of Li & Fung Group of Companies, and Richard Li, Chairman of PCCW limited. David Pan, Director of Alumni and Development Office of Tsinghua SEM was present at the meeting.

During the meeting with Marjorie Yang, Dean Qian briefed Yang on the current situation and outlook of the School's development. Ms Yang put forward a number of feasible suggestions after discussion with Dean Qian on topics covering School's faculty development, students exchange, cooperation with leading overseas universities and the School's sustainable development. Ms Yang, whose grandfather is among the first batch of Tsinghua students entering the University in 1911, has sponsored on various SEM programs such as students exchange, students summer internship, faculty oversea studies and professor recruitment. Additionally, Ms Yang has delivered courses for SEM students many times. Dean Qian expressed thanks to Ms Yang for her outstanding contribution to SEM's development.

During the talks with Victor K. Fung, the two sides discussed "how to become a world-class business school." And in particular they talked about the important role of case-teaching in management education, exchanging views on developing cases of Chinese enterprises. Fung, who graduated from and taught inHarvardUniversity, was quite experienced in both in theory and application of management education. He has served for many positions at Hong Kong SAR government. Fung has made tremendous contributions to the development of a number of educational institutions including Tsinghua SEM.

During the meeting with Richard Li, the two sides talked about the enterprises' social responsibilities as well as the School's further development. As a member of the School's Advisory Board, Li said he hoped to be more involved in the School's further development, and have more chances for communications with school's faculty and students.Dean Qian has formally invited Li to deliver speeches at SEM.

Tsinghua SEM Advisory Board consists of 30 members. Most of them are business leaders from world-renowned companies, or renowned government officials and scholars. Professor Zhu Rongji, the founding Dean of Tsinghua SEM, is the Honorary Chairman of the Advisory Board. Former Chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs Group, Henry Paulson, who’s currently US Treasury Secretary, had been the Chairman of the Advisory Board, and at present time, Chairman of the Board is Group Chief Executive of BP, Lord John Browne. Gu Binglin, President of Tsinghua University, is the Vice Chairman of the Board. The Advisory Board has held seven sessions so far and its next session will take place in late October inBeijing.
