DuPont CEO Talks About "Mega Trends and Growth Opportunities" at Tsinghua

Chad Holliday, Jr., Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of DuPont visited Tsinghua SEM on July 4, 2007, where he delivered a lecture entitled “Mega Trends and Growth Opportunities”. Professor Qian Yingyi, Dean of Tsinghua SEM and David Pan, Director of Tsinghua SEM Alumni and Development Office met with the visiting guests from Dupont.

During their meeting, Dean Qian briefed the visitors on SEM’s partnership with leading overseas universities like MIT, Harvard, noting that Tsinghua SEM has established cooperative ties with 57 overseas universities from diverse regions worldwide. Tsinghua SEM attracts best students with great aspiration from across the country, and its graduates now are playing critical roles in various industries, said Dean Qian. Mr. Holliday introduced DuPont’s business development in various fields, and talked about the company’s development in biochemical field, saying he believes DuPont will play a more important role in this field in the future.

During his lecture, Mr. Holliday introduced DuPont’s five growth platforms: safety and protection, electronic and communication technologies, coatings and color technologies, performance materials, agriculture and nutrition. Mr. Holliday talked about growth opportunities for enterprises under the context of several mega trends: drive for renewable energy and materials, demand for greater safety and security, and need for increased food production. Holliday talked about DuPont’s development plan under such circumstances.Holliday also gave audience an outlook of DuPont’s development as the company is transforming for its third century.

Chad Holliday is the 18th executive to lead the company in more than 200 years of DuPont history. He became CEO onFebruary 1, 1998and Chairman onJanuary 1, 1999. He started at DuPont in the summer of 1970 at DuPont's Old Hickory site after receiving a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from theUniversityofTennessee. He is a licensed Professional Engineer.

UnderChad's direction, DuPont established the mission to achieve sustainable growth – increasing shareholder and societal value while decreasing the company's environmental footprint.As a result, DuPont has moved from being a chemical company to being a science-based products and services company.
