Opening Ceremony for 2007 Tsinghua-CUHK MBA Class Held

The opening ceremony for 2007 Tsinghua-CUHK MBA Program in Finance was held at Tsinghua SEM onAugust, 25, 2007. The ceremony was attended by Xie Weihe, Vice President of Tsinghua University, Tong Yunhuan, Associate Dean of Tsinghua SEM, Zhu Yujie, Director of Tsinghua SEM Academic Affairs Office andMichael K. Hui, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor of theChineseUniversityofHong Kong(CUHK), and He Jia, Professor of the CUHK and the Director of Tsinghua-CUHK MBA Program in Finance.

The 2007 Tsinghua-CUHK MBA class consists of 75 students, 58% of which come from financial sector. The rest had worked for diverse industries including IT, energy, medication, real estate, media, advertising, construction, sports, etc.. With the average age 34, 80% of the participants come from the middle or senior level management in their companies. 16% of the participants are master holders. Since 2007, scholarship application is available to participants. 5 excellent participants have recieved full scholarship this year.

The Tsinghua-CUHK MBA program was launched in November, 2000. Approved by the State Council, the co-op program, observing international standards, attaches great importance to the cultivation of students' all-round abilities. Particular emphasis is put on students' practical experiences and development potentials. By adopting credit system, classes are given both in Chinese and English inTsinghuaUniversity.

Qualified applicants are interviewed jointly by the two universities before they are enrolled in the program. After finishing their study, students will be granted MBA degrees issued by theChineseUniversityofHong Kong.
