Professor Zhang De Receives Top Ten Figures Prize of China HR Grand Awards

Professor Zhang De from the Department of Human Resources and Organizational Behavior of Tsinghua SEM has received Prize for Top Ten Figures at the Awarding ceremony of China Human Resource Grand Awards held during April 12-13, 2008. Professor Zhang De was the only person from academic community who won the prize.

Professor Zhang De was former Chair of the Department of Human Resources and Organizational Behavior of Tsinghua SEM. He has been devoted to research on theory and practice of HR management and organizational culture. He published the first monograph studying Chinese enterprise culture in China in 1991--"Chinese Enterprises’ Culture-Present and Future". He put forward the theory of "Three phases: experience management-scientific management-cultural management" on business management in China in 1993. He has made pioneering contribution in developing local MBA textbooks on HR Development and Management. He put forward the conception of "harmony management" which is suitable to Chinese context in 1997 in his monograph "Harmony Management". He had been in charge of and participated in ten projects supported by state-level research foundations. He had been the supervisor of 22 Ph.D. students and more than 330 master and MBA students. His academic work includes 25 books and 226 academic papers, including 103 published on core journals.

China Human Resource Grand Awards is an annual event evaluating China HR management hosted by China Enterprise Evaluation Association and China HR Development Research Association. The award wins extensive attention from government, businesses, media and academic community every year. The Grand Awards has a “Prize of Top Ten Figures”, which is annually conferred to only one person from academic community “in recognition of his outstanding contributions and tremendous influence in research on theory and practice of HR management.”
