At 3 PM on Saturday, March 29th, this year’s first PKU-Tsinghua IMBA joint mixer was successfully held at a local café near Tsinghua’s South Gate.Jointly arranged by Tsinghua MBA Student Association’s International Affairs Committee (IAC) and PKU Guanghua’s IMBA 2007 Class Committee, the event brought a number of students from both schools together to make new friends and contacts, play games, and establish friendly relations. The event served to allow IMBA students from two top B-school in China to meet and share ideas and experiences while setting an example of friendly exchange and cooperation.

The event began with both Tsinghua and PKU students introducing themselves in front of the group; introductions included work experience, aspirations after the MBA, and general hobbies and interests.In this manner, students were able to find common interests and backgrounds, and from there students divided into groups to play games and chat.The event was informal and relaxed, allowing participants to speak freely and exchange business cards and contact information.During the event, representatives from both IMBA programs collected names and contact information, in hopes of maintaining contact and building up a professional network.

As the top two universities in China, Tsinghua and PKU have strong reputations for producing business leaders and entrepreneurs.Given the enormous importance of a solid business network, it seems only natural that PKU and Tsinghua work on building positive ties and professional networks.

IAC Chair Howard Han, an IMBA 2007 classmate, shared his positive perspective on the get-together: "The purpose of the mixer event is to allow China's top two universities' MBA students to mingle together, build personal relationships, and create potential business opportunities.To my pleasant surprise, students from both schools were eager to socialize, exchanging business cards while playing games such as mafia or Texas Holden. As we look forward to our next mixer event with Guanghua students, we are certain that these friendships we built are special and will last a lifetime."
