Tsinghua MBA China Tour Program: Yiwu Stop

Students from "Tsinghua MBA China Tour Program" began their visit to East China's Yiyu City of Zhejiang Province on April 24, where they visited Yiwu International Trade City, some renowned local businesses and held talks with local government representatives. The three-day activity was jointly launched by Tsinghua SEM Career Development Center (CDC), Yiwu local government and Yiwu HR Service Center. Tsinghua MBA China Tour Program includes a series of visiting activities across the country which has taken the participants to cities including Shanghai, Qingdao, Shengzhen and Shengyang etc. since it was launched in 2003. And Yiwu is the second stop of the program since it begins this semester.

The visiting delegation to Yiwu includes 11 MBA students from 2006 and 2007 classes. During the visit to Zhejiang Mengna Knitting Corporation, the exclusive supplier of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Mr. Zong Guying, president of the company held talks with teachers and students, introducing the 10-year growth process of the China's largest hosiery manufacturer and its future development strategy. During the meeting, students also got known of the company’s development stories from three other senior managers of the company who are also Tsinghua SEM alumni.

Students talked with representatives from Yiwu Government on April 25 and learned about the developing history of the commerce and trade of the city, which currently is known as the biggest small commodity market in China. Participants said the visit had promoted the communications and understandings between Tsinghua University and Yiwu government as well as local businesses, which would benefit further cooperation on human resources and information between three parties in the future.
