Tsinghua SEM Undergraduate Liu Qing Qualifies for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games

The Chinese Olympic track and field trials have taken place in East China's Suzhou city during June 27-29, 2008. Tsinghua SEM undergraduate Liu Qing has taken the top title in the women’s 1,500m with a time of 4 minutes and 6.14 seconds, meeting the Olympic standard A and winning her ticket to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

The 22-year-old Liu Qing has won women's 800m and 1500m golds at National Games and National Tournament, and 800m gold at the East Asian Games. In 2006, she rewrote the national record in women's 800m at China National Indoor Track and Field Tournament in 2:02:90.

In addition, at the Asian Athletics Tour competition on June 26, Chinese men's4 x 100mrelay team, participated by Tsinghua SEM second-year graduate Hu Kai, finished first at 38.81 seconds. If things go smoothly in competitions before July 16, Chinese men's 4 x 100m relay team is expected to be qualified for 2008 Olympic games.
