Tsinghua University and China Development Bank (CDB) have jointly announced to establish “Tsinghua University –China Development Bank Planning Research Institution”. The agreement on Tsinghua University-China Development Bank Overall Cooperation was signed on November 13. Governor of China Development Bank Chen Yuan and President of Tsinghua University Gu Binglin attended the signing ceremony. Vice President of the University Xie Weihe presided at the ceremony.

The China Development Bank has been contributing to the system reform of investment and financing in China, said Chen Yuan, such cooperation between CDB and Tsinghua may combine Tsinghua’s abundant academic resources with CDB’s rich practical experience, with the Planning Research Institution as a platform, which will further contributing to the economic development of Chinese society. Chen said he hoped the Planning Research Institution could become one of the most influential think tank in China and even in the World.

President Gu Binglin said, Tsinghua University will partner with CDB in strengthening the research on strategic planning and financial situation; relevant professorship and student scholarship programs will be set up to enhance the excellence of faculty and students. Gu said he hoped through such cooperation, Tsinghua will make more contribution to the cultivation of professionals in the financial area meanwhile promote the sustainable development of Chinese society.

Attendees at the ceremony included Dean of Tsinghua SEM Qian Yingyi, and representatives of the faculty and students of Tsinghua SEM.
