International Alumni Links Strengthened

Alumni, corporate guests, faculty and current students descended onto Tsinghua SEM for an International Networking Night on 23rd April 2009.Despite the inclement weather, about 50 took the time to return to the campus to network, and also more than 70 current study students come to the party. Among the guests were Mr Jack Perkowski, ex-CEO of ASIMCO Technologies Limited, Professor Roberto RIGOBON, MIT Sloan School of Management and MBA candidates from the University of Texas who were in China for a study trip.

Dean Qian Yingyi opened the ceremony by highlighting the achievements of the International MBA programme which is held in collaboration with the MIT Sloan School of Management.Students gain an international mindset and insights into China. Over 900 students have graduated from the programme, and are now in many different industries.Dean Qian urged all present to develop practical skills and knowledge, including soft skills such as networking, so as to better prepare for their careers ahead.

Mr Rock Xiao Changjin, 2008 IMBA, was the chairperson of the organising committee. "I hope that this inaugural IMBA event will become an annual tradition where alumni return to give their juniors insights into their industries, have fun, and relive their school days once again."

Ms Yuri Choi, 2008 IMBA from Korea, could be seen busy interacting with the alumni.“The IMBA programme has produced many Korean alumni who have since taken on leadership roles in companies such as Samsung.This occasion provides me with a rare opportunity to learn more from our seniors and to better position myself with the skills needed to progress.”

The International Networking Night was held as part of a series of alumni events to commemorate Tsinghua University’s homecoming on that same weekend.
