Tsinghua University Center for Corporate Governance Established

Tsinghua University has received a grant of three million US dollars from Victor and William Fung Foundation to set up a research center focusing on the study of corporate governance.

The establishing ceremony of Tsinghua University Center for Corporate Governance was held on October 30 at Tsinghua SEM. Dr. Victor K Fung, Group Chairman of Li & Fung Group of Companies and Professor QIAN Yingyi, Dean of Tsinghua SEM delivered addresses at the ceremony.

Victor and William Fung Foundation is a Hong Kong-registered charity, personally funded by Dr. Victor K Fung and Dr. William K Fung, respectively the Chairman of Li & Fung Group, member of the Advisory Board of the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University, and Managing Director of the Li & Fung Group.

The Center for Corporate Governance aims at conducting in-depth survey and analysis of current corporate governance environments in China. The Center's inherent mission includes excellence in teaching of corporate governance in China to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and designing corporate governance and business ethic courses. The Center will provide comprehensive corporate governance and business ethic curriculum, leading research achievements and the effective tools for solving the most pressing issues to different types of enterprises in China. The Center will collaborate with other universities, in particular Harvard University and the University of Hong Kong, in fulfilling its objectives.
