The Fifth China Retail Forum Took Place in Tsinghua SEM

The Fifth China Retail Forum was held in Tsinghua SEM by China Retail Research Center (CRRC) on December 9. The theme of this year’s Forum is “Strategy of Retailing Development in Financial Crisis.” It aims to provide in-depth insights for the development of China’s retail industries after the financial crisis.

The Forum’s opening ceremony was moderated by Professor CHEN Guoqing, Associate Dean of Tsinghua SEM and Director of CRRC, and the speeches were moderated by Professor WANG Gao from China Europe International Business School, Deputy Director of CRRC.

Since its establishment in 2004, CRRC has been the host of China Retail Forum for five consecutive years. Its own research results have been publicized under the title “Advanced Studies of Chinese Retail Industry.”

WANG Xiaochuan, Director of the Department of Commercial Services Administration under the Ministry of Commerce, presented at the Forum and delivered a speech. He said, the development of Chinese retail industry has been helping China through the financial crisis. Now the Department of Commerce is planning to expand domestic demand through upcoming policies, aiming to maintain the sustainable development of the retail industry.

Professor XIE Weihe, Vice President of Tsinghua University, and Professor LI Fei, Deputy Director of CRRC, both spoke on the Forum.

Guests present at the Forum came from a wide range of associations and business groups. Scholars from domestic and international research institutions also contributed their thoughts on an academic seminar held by the Forum.
