EMBA 2009 F Class Donated to Support MBA Student Suffering from Cancer

On January 14, 2010, Tsinghua SEM’s EMBA 2009 F Class donated 354,600 RMBat the class’s New Year Party for YUAN Hongbin, a MBA student suffering from cancer.

YUAN Hongbin received his undergraduate degree in the School of Law at Tsinghua University in 2005, and joined SEM’s MBA Program in 2008. His enthusiastic contribution to the development of the Western region of China used to be covered by CCTV’s News Broadcast.

In November 2009, YUAN Hongbin is diagnosed with a rare kind of cancer, which generated a large amount of medical expenses for his rural family.

The university and the School have utilized all kinds of resources to help YUAN. Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association, 2008 MBA F1 Class’s Class Committee and the Ray of Love Association established a Donation Management Committee. Since the message was spread, the faculty, staff of the School and students in MBA classes have made generous contribution to the donation.

Charity Auction on the New Year Party

On January 14, 2010, members of the Committee were invited to the New Year Party of EMBA 2009 F Class. Two auctions were held at the party, and the Class Committee decided to donate the earnings of the second auction to YUAN Hongbin.

At the auction, MA Shan, presenter of the party, a student from EMBA 2009 F Class, declared the decision: “One of the MBA students is down with illness. We cannot stand aside without lending a hand. I propose to donate the auction money to YUAN Hongbin for his treatment.”

On-spot Donation

An on-spot donation was also made at the party. The money collected amounted to 354,600 RMB. An EMBA student said to the Donation Committee: ”MBA or EMBA, we are all studying in SEM. Thus we have enough reason to help.” Monitor of EMBA 2009 F Class QI Hegang said: “The last sentence of the motto of our class is ‘Contributing Extensively.’ Today I can say with proud that we did it.”
