The board of the first Tsinghua-Berkeley Global Technology Entrepreneurship Education Program (GTE) met on March 8, 2010 to evaluate the program operation in 2009 fall semester and discuss future strategies as well as innovations.

The GTE Program was launched in fall 2009, co-initiated by Tsinghua University and UC Berkeley College of Engineering’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (CET). It is the goal of both partner institutions to universalize entrepreneurial knowledge and develop the world’s next technology leaders. The Program aims to recruit existing students in engineering schools of Tsinghua University with sufficient English skills and an ambition for entrepreneurship. The whole program lasts for one year, with a curriculum co-developed by both partners and a focus on modules provided by UC Berkeley.

The meeting was hosted by Professor HE Kebin, Deputy Dean ofGraduate School and a board member of the Program,Tsinghua University, who said the Program has been contributing to the effort to improve engineering education and the cultivation of specialists instead of academic professionals.

At the meeting, two groups of the Program’s existing students reported about their entrepreneurial plans, and exchanged ideas with entrepreneurs, venture partners and board members.

Present at the meeting were also Professor GAO Jian, Assistant Dean of Tsinghua SEM and CO-Director of the Program, and Professor Ikhlaq Sidhu, founding Director of CET and Co-Director of the Program.
