The commencement ceremony for the first group of students in the Tsinghua Berkeley Global Technology Entrepreneurship Education Program (GTE Program) was held at Tsinghua SEM on May 23, 2010.

The GTE Program was launched in fall 2009, co-initiated by Tsinghua University and UC Berkeley College of Engineering’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (CET).

During the year-long Program, participant students formed entrepreneurship groups that have been supervised by prestigious investors and entrepreneurs.

Professor GAO Jian, Associate Dean of SEM and Co-Director of the Program, moderated the ceremony. Professor Ikhlaq Sidhu, Co-Director of the Program on UC Berkeley side, greeted the audience and delivered a short remark via the internet.

On the ceremony, student groups presented their technological business proposals to a judging board composed of professors from both universities and senior managers from Apex Capital Global, KeyTone Ventures, WI Harper Group, Philips (China) Investment, Beijing Keqiao Investment, Gobi Partners and Innovation Works.

Three groups with best proposal design and presentation performance were selected by the judges and honored with “Excellent Group Award.”
