On the evening of May 14, 2010, Tsinghua University China Center for Financial Research’s Private Equity and Venture Capital Institute and the Career Development Center (CDC) co-held a lecture on emerging issues in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) by outbound Chinese investors.

This is the third of the “2010 Doing the Deal Lecture Series” which previously addressed minority investments in China and private equity fund formation. The three lectures jointly comprise a focused short-term course on private equity issues concerning China.

Guest speakers include Partner David Patrick Eich, Partner LI Chuan, Partner Helena Huang, Partner Jesse Sheley, Partner and Associate William Yu from Kirkland & Ellis International LLP. They analyzed major issues in outbound Chinese M&A deals, particularly those concerning acquisitions of US targets.

After the lecture, five guest speakers held a discussion session with students at the café in Shunde Building, exchanging ideas on foreign exchange control, the role of Kirkland & Ellis in M&A, and law issues in M&A deals.
