In his speech, Dean Qian explained that traditionally, Tsinghua SEM's management education was devised in a "vacuum", with little connection to other faculties. But with the globalization of economies, and the subsequent emergence of new technologies, new business models demand the combination of management education with subjects such as information technology, healthcare, and design to nurture a business student who is well versed in diverse subject areas. Dean Qian stated that corporate innovation requires the interaction and integration of different perspectives, and that Tsinghua SEM's efforts to integrate management education with other professions will allow for an advancement of education and research. Dean Qian noted that this is Tsinghua SEM's main development strategy and its important distinguishing feature. To conclude, Dean Qian expressed his hope that this forum will allow for the initiation of a long-term collaboration between Tsinghua SEM and DEE. At the same time, he hopes it will provide a precedent for other engineering faculties to consult in the future.
