In the afternoon, as special guest of Tsinghua EMBA Program and Dean QIAN Yingyi, 84-year-old retired professor HUANG Yanfu, hailed as “guardian of Tsinghua tradition” showed the students around the beautiful Tsinghua campus. Accompanied by Dean QIAN, Mr. HUANG took the students to the landmark Second University Gate, the Sundial, the site of Tsinghua School, the WANG Guowei Memorial, the Tongfang Department, the University library, the western gymnasium, Guyue Residence and Yuehan Pine and the co-op center Zhaolan Courtyard. Along the route, Mr. HUANG passionately introduced historical figures of Tsinghua, citing stories and anecdotes, which won him applause after applause from the participants. The campus tour was followed by a more rigorous lecture in the evening by Mr. HUANG, who elaborated on the Tsinghua humanistic tradition and summarized it to be self-discipline and social commitment, independent spirit and freedom of thinking and the fusion of eastern and western cultures.
