Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management (Tsinghua SEM) will hold its Commencement 2017 on July 2 at the Gymnasium of Tsinghua University. Tsinghua SEM is honored to have Mr. LOU Jiwei, Chairman of the National Council for Social Security Fund and Former Minister of Finance, as the Commencement Speaker this year.

LOU Jiwei

Mr. LOU holds a Bachelor’s degree of Computer Sciences of Tsinghua University (1982) and a Master’s degree in Economics from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (1984). He was appointed as the Minister of Finance in March 2013, and the Chairman of the National Council for Social Security Fund in November 2016. Mr. LOU is a member of the Advisory Board and an Adjunct Professor of Tsinghua SEM.

Mr. LOU has played a significant role in China’s economic reform and opening up for over thirty years. He has long been dedicated to the research, planning and policy making for the economic reform in China, especially in the areas of macroeconomics, public finance, and taxation. He received the Sun Yefang Prize in Economic Sciences in 1994 and 2012.
