Established in 1985, the Department of Finance, School of Economics and Management (SEM), Tsinghua University began enrolling its first undergraduate class in 1993. It stands as one of the earliest departments in mainland China to adopt international standards for its disciplinary structure.
The Department’s enduring mission is to cultivate innovative financial leaders for the development of the Chinese and global economies, while contributing original academic insights to the advancement of financial theory. As one of the most dynamic finance departments in China and the Asia-Pacific region, it builds upon Tsinghua University’s excellence in education and research to provide modern professional finance curricula for top-tier students from home and abroad. These offerings primarily include three degree programs—Undergraduate in Economics and Finance, Master of Finance, and Ph.D. in Finance—alongside core courses for various executive education programs within the school.
